goodbye 2009.

I can't believe another year has come and gone. So many great things happened in 09, and I am super anxious, and excited for all the amazing things to come in 2010!  I never make new year's resolutions, but as I was going through  all my photos, I realized there are MAYBE 10 of me (...if you know me, you know I am MUCH more comfortable behind the camera, and feel incredibly awkward when I am in front of one.) So....I am making a resolution, and yes. I totally plan to stick to it! I have to make myself be in more pictures! I am regretting not being in as many as I could have been. With my girls, Marc, my family....so wish me luck friends!  I wanted to post some of my favorites from this past year...these first two pictures are from our first family vacation!

This was Addison's birthday cake, it took me and my mom 3 days to make. But it was so worth it! He turned out so cute, and yummy!

Amelia finally decided she wanted to ride the bus this year! This was her first day of 1st grade!

my sweet, beautiful girls.

my santa baby...one of my all time favorites of her!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year!

some photography ettiquette.

If you are new to lifestyle photography, or are interested in scheduling a session...you should definately pay attention to some of these "do's and don'ts" below. One of my favorite blogs to stalk is by DrewB . She is an amazing photographer located in the beautiful OC, CA. You can check out my other favorite blog to stalk, www.momtog.com That's where I found this great post!

The Do’s and Don’ts of Stealing Images From Your Photographer

I get asked a lot by both photographers and clients what my policy is on letting my clients post their images to their blogs and facebook account. I personally love it when my clients post their family pictures on their blogs, facebook, etc. It shows me that they truly love their images! I encourage my clients to “steal” their pictures from my blog to use on the internet. Here are a few do’s and don’ts that you should think about when reposting your images:

1) DO ask your photographer what their specific policy is on taking pictures off of their blogs. Some photographers encourage it and some don’t allow it. If this is important to you this is something you should ask BEFORE you hire your photographer!

2) DO include your photographer’s name and website under the images (a link would be super nice!). That’s just the polite thing to do

3) DON’T crop out their logo. Unless you have paid for the digital negatives don’t alter the files in anyway. Most photographers use their blogs to advertise their work and do so as a courtesy to give their clients a sneak peek. If a client crops out the logo then how will other people know who took the picture?

4) DON’T edit the picture in any way. Taking the pictures is only half of a photographers job. The other half is editing. If you think you can do a better job or want to edit out some of your wrinkles or use selective coloring please don’t show and/or tell your photographer. That is super insulting. If you don’t like your photographers editing enough to want to edit it yourself than maybe you need to find another photographer next year.

5) DON’T try to print from the files on the blog. For me specifically I know that the files I upload to my blog are too small to be printed in a 4×6 size. It’s not cool to invest in a family session and then print the images off of the blog and not pay for prints. Make sure you know how much the prints cost before the session to avoid sticker shock. Same goes for scanning prints that you already bought. Not cool! Some of my family members are guilty of printing images off of my blog. It makes me cringe when I see them FRAMED in their homes with my logo still on there! To be fair, I’m also not great at emailing them the file when they ask for it

I hope you have found this helpful! And to make this post a little more interesting, here's one of my favorite pictures of Addison playing in the mirror. She loves to laugh, talk, and kiss herself when looking at her reflection. It's so cute!

the big snow.

I hate snow. Really, really, HATE it. The only thing I like about it is that Amelia loves it, and seeing her face when she wakes up in the morning and sees it outside for the first time is priceless. And, I guess it's pretty to look at, too. But besides that....I have nothing but bad feelings towards the snow! I hope to live in the south (preferably Texas! :) ) one day....but I don't see that day coming soon enough!

This was Addison's first snow (she was obviously too young last year...) and I thought for a minute that she was going to love it! Anytime Amelia was going in/out, Addison just couldn't get over the the door fast enough to try and get herself outside. It was pretty cute, and pitiful to hear her so heartbroken that she didn't complete her mission of getting out there....
....but the stinker didn't even like it! She takes after her mama :)

I was shocked she was willing to taste it...Amelia kept saying, "go on babe, you CAN EAT IT!"

I would love to post a picture of our cards I was GOING to send out, but there was a big accident involving coffee and a 15month old, and well....my plans for our cards just didn't work out this year. So....Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing, (ha!) day with your family and friends!

maureen and dave.

So...in exchange for Dave updating my computer a few weeks ago, I took some Christmas pictures for him and Maureen! I have known Maureen since pre-school, (yay, St. James!) and she is seriously one of the sweetest people I know. I guess Dave is a pretty sweet guy too :) We walked around Main Street in Warrenton last weekend, and, really...how cute are they??!!

Dave, I cannot thank you enough for the work you did on my computer, it's amazing! Thanks for letting me follow you guys around....it was fun, and you guys are ADORABLE! Merry Christmas!

About a month ago, Amanda contacted me about having some pictures done of her and her sister and brother. When she told me they wanted to do this for a Christmas present for their parents, I was so excited!!! I met them the other day at their beautiful dairy farm. happy (belated!) birthday, chelsea!

On Nov. 28th, my sister celebrated her 27th birthday! We went to Barrel Oak Winery, in Delaplane. it was so beautiful and everyone there was SO nice. And they are extremely dog friendly!! We had a really good time, and enjoyed some delicious wine! We brought Amelia with us, I figured she would like doing something with the "big" girls, but that wasn't really the case. (opps!)

amelia adores her aunt chelsea :)

Chels, I hope you had a wonderful birthday! I love you so much. You are an amazing sister, and even better friend. I am so glad to have you in my life, I love all our crazy memories together, old and new, and look forward to making many more. Love you!!! (sorry this is a little late!)
